Our unique milling process
is designed to retain all the bran, makes this Superfood convenient to use in a soluble powder form. It’s so easy to eat or drink; – just add it to food, your favorite smoothie, yoghurt or to a glass of milk or water. Best consumed cold, as heat destroys the anthocyanins and many of the nutrients.

The instant small white shoots appear the sprouter is stopped and unloaded. The seed’s Phytic acid is now neutralised, and the sprouts are ready for freeze-drying and grinding into a fine powder. It’s the ideal food for vegans and vegetarians, as Phytic acid is an anti-nutrient, that restricts mineral absorption, especially iron.

Regionally Grown & Harvested

Our Certified Organic Black Rice derives from the Oryza sativa L. species and is grown exclusively for Rai Din Thai in the Chiang Rai region of Northern Thailand.

The correct geography plays a key role in the development of our Black Rice’s superior nutritional value. It is grown at an altitude of over 500 m, where the higher elevation, cooler night-time temperatures, and fertile soil, produces the unique nutritional properties found in Rai Din Thai’s Sprouted Black Rice Powder.

We only use the November crop, harvested at the end of the rainy season, as this ensures the highest quality of rice and maximum levels of anthocyanins. Black rice harvested at other times of the year will experience drought conditions, resulting in a nutritionally inferior product.

Culturally Authentic and Traditional Food:  Traditional farming techniques, preparation and consumption of Sprouted Black Rice all reflect the culture of the Thai people and play a crucial role in our vision for this dynamic whole food. In northern Thailand, sprouts of every kind are consumed, while non sprouted “seeds” are stored for later planting. 

Similar to blueberries and blackberries, Sprouted Black Rice Powder is a deep purple colour. This demonstrates the food’s very high levels of antioxidants. Sprouted Black Rice Powder is one of Nature’s Superfoods and contains one of the highest levels of anthocyanins known to science. It even has more anthocyanins than dried blueberries with more than 90 times less sugar!

Research studies demonstrate that the anthocyanin content of sprouted black rice powder is higher than any other grains. This includes brown rice, red rice, red quinoa or any other colored whole grain varieties.

These anthocyanins are a type of flavonoid, a powerful antioxidant, that reduces inflammation. In addition, strong scientific evidence shows that flavonoids can help prevent T2 diabetes, lower cardiovascular mortality rates, and also be instrumental in fighting some cancers.

Our Unique Sprouting Process Maximises Nutrients

Our unique sprouting process of high quality, organic, soft-milled black rice, yields greater nutrition and health benefits over normal varieties of black rice.

Sprouted

Immediately after harvest, our premium Black Rice is stored at the Rai Din Thai sprouting facility. It’s then placed in computer controlled, rotary sprouters. The temperature, humidity, moisture levels, rotation speed and light exposure are all simultaneously monitored to create an optimal sprouting environment. The water we use is triple filtered and treated to US FDA standards for sprouting food. 

Bran Complete: 

This is the result of our process known as soft milling, which only removes the husk from the rice kernel by gently massaging it with a jet of air. Soft milling leaves all the nutrient and antioxidant packed bran intact. Standard “Cargo” rice, as found in grocery stores, has 95% of the bran milled from the kernel and results in a significant loss of healthy nutrients, antioxidants and fiber.

Whole Food Anthocyanins: 

 This is the first Protein Rich Whole Food to deliver anthocyanins. Previously, anthocyanins were only known to be available in fruit, such as blueberries, blackberries, black soy beans, etc. The benefit of our Sprouted Black Rice Powder is that it contains more anthocyanins than dried blueberries, but with 90 times less sugar. When anthocyanins are bound in fibre, they are completely absorbed during digestion. Consequently, Rai Din Thai’s Sprouted Black Rice Powder delivers high levels of anthocyanins without the high sugar content found in other fruits and berries.

Anti-Oxidant levels:  

Our method of leaving the bran intact, ensures that the antioxidant levels remain high and complete, just as nature intended. This allows consumers to benefit from all 7 species of anthocyanins present in the pericarp of Black Rice.  Anthocyanins delivered by Black Rice Bran have shown in recent studies to have a greater rate of absorption, based on their location specific release in the lower gut.

High Fiber: 

Leaving the bran intact also delivers a therapeutic dose of fiber. Recent studies on the high levels of fiber in Black Rice have shown that it regulates the pace of complete foods, as they move through the digestive tract.

Phytic Acid: 

We regularly test our product to determine the precise moment that the Phytic acid (an enzyme inhibitor and antinutrient that prevents nutrient absorption) is neutralized. The instant the seeds “pop” and start to develop a sprout, we stop the sprouting process to ensure that the new shoot doesn’t consume the precious nutrients present in the bran, and all the vital nutrients remain in the rice. Rotary sprouting Black Rice allows this functional food to be readily available for complete digestion and absorption in its raw form.

Phytic acid

Neutralization of the Phytic acid ensures the release of the entire enzyme profile and creates an easily digested Whole Raw Food. It’s deep purple in colour, which indicates just how high the levels of antioxidants are.

It is similar to dark colored antioxidant berries like blueberries, blackberries and raspberries, but much more powerful. Research demonstrates that the anthocyanin content of black rice is higher than any other rice grain, red quinoa, or other colored whole grain species. It even has more anthocyanins than blueberries with just a fraction of the sugar.
